Drink Recipes

One of Mark Stoddard's bartending rules: Always shake toward yourself. Makes 1 drink.

Ingredients
1 1/2   ounces silver tequila such as El Tesoro Silver Tequila
3/4     ounce fresh lime juice
3/4     ounce orange liqueur (Leopold Bros., Cointreau, Grand Marnier, Patron Citronge or another high-quality triple sec)

Directions
Combine all ingredients over ice in mixing glass and shake for 10 seconds. Strain over fresh ice in old-fashioned glass. Garnish with lime wheel and orange wedge.

Classic Margarita

Classic Mojito
Some prefer a sweeter drink, some more sour. Makes 1 drink. Ingredients 6 mint leaves 3 lime wedges 1 tablespoon powdered sugar (or 3/4 ounce simple syrup), or more to taste 2 ounces white rum (such as Mount Gay Eclipse silver rum, Cruzan Estate light rum, or Bacardi Superior) 3 ounces club soda Directions In a Collins glass, gently muddle mint and lime wedges. Add sugar or simple syrup and rum and stir for 10 seconds. Finally, add ice and top with club soda and stir once more. Garnish with fresh sprig of mint.
Classic Whiskey Sour
"Some customers are surprised," at the raw egg white in this recipe, says Mark Stoddard. Those with concerns about consuming raw egg may want to pick another drink. Makes 1. Ingredients 2 ounces fresh sour mix ( 1/2ounce fresh lime juice, 1/2ounce fresh lemon juice, and 2 tablespoons powdered sugar or 1 ounce simple syrup) 1 egg white 2 1/2 ounces American whiskey such as Leopold Bros. Directions Combine sour mix and egg white and gently "dry" shake to premix and begin emulsification. Next, add ice and whiskey, and shake for 20-30 seconds more. Strain over crushed ice in old-fashioned glass. Garnish with lemon peel, marasca cherry, and 2 dashes of bitters on top for aromatics
